The African Daisy.

Abundant in my family’s back yard and all around town. These flowers shut their petals and go to sleep with the sun and open up again with the sunrise. To survive the California summers of drought they go into ‘sleep mode’ and disappear beneath the ground until next season. These purple and white flowers were the subject of many of my early photographs and artistic exploration.
